Brian Robb, Trudy Swanson, D-Ward 1, and Bill Nickels, D-Ward 1, won the primary election for city council Tuesday.

Election results are according to unofficial reports made by the Washtenaw County Clerk's Office. The county election board will meet to certify the results of the election today.

The three victors of the primary elections will run as Democrats in November's general election. The only ward with another party running a candidate is Ward 2.

Ward One
Trudy Swanson, D-Ward 1, was the incumbent in a three-way race in the Ward 1. She took 50.43 percent of the 690 votes in the Democratic primaries.

Her opponents, Juanita House and David Kircher, took 29.86 and 19.71 percent of the votes respectively.

Of the registered voters in Ward 1, 16.3 percent turned out Tuesday.

Ward Two
Incumbent Bill Nickels, D-Ward 2, defeated John Bailey when he took 69.65 percent of the votes Tuesday.

Nickels will square off against Libertarian candidate Tom Bagwell in November.

The turn-out in Ward 2 was the largest, 30.24 percent of the 3,826 registered voters participated.

Ward Three
Brian Robb collected 12 more votes, or .02 percent, than his opponent in Ward 3, Rod Johnson.

Barry LaRue, D-Ward 3, did not run for re-election this year. Robb will be the Democrat running for his seat in November.

There are 3,309 registered voters in Ward 3, 21.85 percent of them voted on Tuesday.
