DO YOU SUPPORT THE RIGHT OF PEOPLE OF THE SAME SEX TO GET LEGALLY MARRIED IN MICHIGAN?

Yes, I support same-sex marriage.

COMMENTS:

The freedom to marry is a pretty basic right. It’s amazing that we are still having this debate.

DO YOU SUPPORT AMENDING THE MICHIGAN STATE CONSTITUTION TO LIFE THE 2004 BAN ON SAME-SEX MARRIAGE?

Yes, I support overturning the ban.

COMMENTS:

This constitutional amendment reflects poorly on the State of Michigan and hinders our ability to attract and retain talent and business.

WHAT IN YOUR EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE MAKE YOU THE BEST QUALIFIED CANDIDATE FOR THIS POSITION?

Having had the honor to serve on City Council for the last eight years, I am the only candidate with an in-depth understanding of the issues facing our community. I am the only candidate who has led the creation of policy that positively improves our parks and playgrounds, reconstructs roads, and improves the financial outlook of the City. My experience in dealing with multi-million dollar budgets, my extensive experience with City personnel and functions, my background in creative problem solving, and my proven track records in dealing with constituent concerns all make me the most qualified candidate to represent the 3rd Ward in Ypsilanti.

Why I Am Supporting Brian For Council:

Brian strongly reminds me of one person on a union master council that I used to chair. Mark Herron was his name and on complicated issues the council we had to deal with, we would think we had everything thought out and contingencies taken when Mark would start saying “have you taken in consideration these other issues”. More often than not, we had not and in the end we came out with much stronger final decisions due to Mark. To me, Brian is the “Mark” of City Council in Ypsi, with a very analytical mind and bringing up items that perhaps many on Council had not thought about, making City Council as a whole, a much better body of government. We need that here in Ypsilanti.
